How we decide what SŌMA says.
SŌMA describes flower so you can choose it by taste. That only works if the descriptions are honest about what they are — and about what nobody can know from a strain name alone. This page sets out how records are built and where the limits sit.
How a strain record is built
A canonical sensory vocabulary
Every strain is hand-mapped to one shared set of aroma, flavour and effect terms. That is what makes strains comparable to each other and to your profile — rather than each record using whatever words its source happened to use.
Confidence is stated, not implied
Each record carries a confidence level, and lineage is rated separately from identity. A well-documented strain with a contested family tree is shown as exactly that, instead of being flattened into a single verdict.
No invented figures
We do not publish THC or terpene percentages we cannot stand behind. Numbers vary per batch and per lab, so a figure copied from one source and presented as the strain's property would be misleading.
What we will not claim
That a strain guarantees an effect. Effects are subjective and depend on dose, setting and the person. SŌMA offers sensory guidance, never a promised outcome.
That the name is the whole story. The same strain can be excellent from one grower and flat from another. Cultivation, curing, freshness and storage shape the experience at least as much as genetics.
That this is medical or legal advice. It is not, and it is written for adults 21+ in places where cannabis is legal.
Matching is personal
A match score is not a quality ranking. It measures fit between one strain's sensory profile and one person's stated preferences, so the same strain can score high for you and low for someone else — both correctly.

Corrections
If a record looks wrong — a mistaken lineage, a mis-tagged aroma, an alias pointing at the wrong cultivar — tell us and we will look at it. Write to Somasensory@somasensory.com. Records are revised as better information arrives; the catalog is meant to improve, not to look finished.
